BC Adaptive Snowsports’ Black Diamond Gala raises $108,000 towards snowsports programing for people with disabilities

Vancouver (B.C) – On September 25th, guests gathered at the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel for the BC Adaptive Snowsports (BCAS) annual Black Diamond Gala. The fundraising event, now in its second year, aims to raise awareness and funds for snowsport programs for people with disabilities in British Columbia.

From the bunny hill to the steepest chutes on Whistler Blackcomb; Alex Cairns is the next generation of Canadian sit-skiers and he attributes his success to BC Adaptive Snowsport Programs.

One of the recognized barriers to participation in snowsports is cost. Through the generous financial support of our funding partner CKNW Orphan's Fund and additional support from Kids Sport, BC Adaptive Snowsports is happy to be able to offer the Children & Youth Equipment Grant Program.

Tickets for BC Adaptive's 2015 Black Diamond Gala are now on sale and selling fast. More than 100 have sold already!

Join hosts Fiona Forbes from SHAW TV and tv/radio personality Michael Eckford for a sparkling night of fine food, wine, music, live & silent auctions to support programs for children and adults with disabilities around BC to enjoy the freedom and theraputic benefits of skiing and snowboarding. For more information and to purchase your tickets, CLICK HERE.

Congratulations to Landon McGauley, Mark Robertson, Melissa Pemble, Chelaine McInroy and Amanda Timm on being selected to the BC Para-alpine Ski Team for the 2015-2016 Season.

CADS is currently seeking a Director to be the senior staff and leader of the organization.  If you have a passion for a leadership role and for working in this not-for-profit organization that strives to better the lives of skiers and snowboarders with disabilities, this position may be the right fit for you!  The Director reports to the President.  The work location is negotiable and working from a home office is a possibility.

Join us on July 2nd at Sun Peaks Resort for the 1st annual Sun Peaks Grand Golf Tournament benefitting BC Adaptive Snowsports.

Proceeds will support the annual BCAS Summit at Sun Peaks in December for volunteer and club training as well as club equipment loan programs and instructor education programs to support skiers and snowboarders with a disability.

As we mark the end of another wonderful season it's time to take the opportunity to recognize those outstanding volunteers and groups who have gone out of their way to ensure the continued success of adaptive snowsport programs in BC. Award nominations must be received no later than 5pm, May 31st. For complete details, including official nomination form, visit the Helpful Documents page of our website. (CLICK HERE)
